Question:
Does anyone have a LaStone Kit, or part kit they don't want?
Set-up costs are so high and alternative stone therapy kits I have looked at don't have the same composition of stones, so I could not do the routine as I was taught it (and I am fussy about doing things 'by the book', I must admit)
Am itching to get started with this fab therapy, which takes massage to another level, and am worried I will forget how to do it!
Sheila
Sheila,
I got my kit from Ellisons; the kit included 50 Basalt stones (very very good quality) the heater, gloves, wooden spoon, thermometer, fishing net for the toe stones, and Chakra stones for just under £300. This included my 10% discount as a new customer - and they were doing a special offer last month of a set of stone therapy oils and stand worth £37 for free!!
I agree, it is a lovely treatment to give and receive - good luck.

Thanks for that.
Sounds like you got a brilliant deal!
I have looked at the Ellisons kit, but some of the stones you use in LaStone are
not there.(54 stones in LaStone)
Perhaps I need to improvise?
Enjoy using your stones - your clients will come back for more once they have tried the treatment once, if what I am told is true.
Sheila
Sheila,
you can also buy additional stones separately from Ellisons to make up however many stones you want or need. They do a lovely great big stone for placement eg Sacral for around £5, and then other sizes in packs.
I find that the 51 I have is plenty for one treatment, they are easily washed afterwards and dried ready for the next person..........................!!
My first paying client had her treatment the day before yesterday and she loved it. I phoned her today and she said it was the most relaxing treatment she has ever had in her life! She felt totally relaxed for the rest of the day, and still feels the benefit. As she is the receptionist of the clinic I am working, she is an excellent spokesperson now to advertise for me!!

I saw the TH.Stone demo at Pro Beauty 2004 at Excel and am so excited about doing the training early next year. I have about 100 stones now, bought them in America. Great stones and fantastic value for money!

Hi ,I am doing this course later on in the year and my tutor told me not to be worried about the kit, she bought a crock po slow cooker from TJ Hughes for £14 which is apparently the same thing!:)
Hmmm. Now you've got me thinking. Maybe I should get in touch with Ellisons, because I didn't know you could buy extra stones.
I do know a friend of a friend who has an Ellisons kit, and we are planning to all get together to practise, but goodness knows when that will be.
Well done you with your client - didn't I tell you?
Word will soon spread and you will be so busy - don't forget to mention Gift Vouchers, with Christmas coming up. People will want to give such a brilliant gift.
Thanks for the info. Aren't therapists fantastic people - always want to help each other. We are in the BEST business.

Hey Fozzyo,
great way to get the stones!! You will enjoy the course, it is fantastic.
When I was showing off the stones at the clinic to all the people waiting for the Chiropractor,(!!!!) one of the ladies was from New Zealand told me that they have the stones all over the beach there - I told her to get me a few next time she is back home!

I am not sure how it would compare with the exchange rate and freight to ship from the USA, but I know that there is a complete stone therapy kit from www.massageking.com for $299 (I think) US dollars. I know it comes with several items, and I am sure you can purchase additional stones of assorted sizes, but it may not be exactly the same or come with the same items as the one you mentioned.
I did consider doing this, but upon investigation, not only would it be very expensive for shipping *(the stones are very heavy!) but also Customs would charge duty and tax as they entered the country. ( It is done automatically)
You may only bring in up to £120 of goods duty free, after that you get clobbered!! Therefore, no cheaper at all to import!!!

Hi Pagoda,
have you contacted Stone Forest or LaStone about this ?
They did have some secondhand kit posted on the the LaStone website . Have lost my Ellisons catalogue (maybe I gave it away) but one of our course discussed the kit in there with Jane Scrivner during our course and she said it would be fine for facials and reflexology but not enough of the Chakra stones (biggies) or cold stones for a treatment.
I did save up and bought my set from Stone Forest and I love them !
xx
Hi,
That's an idea. I didn't think of that - always assumed it would be against Stone Forest's interests to assist the sale of secondhand kits.
I haven't seen an Ellison's kit, but I know they don't use cold stones, and do they use crystals on the chakras instead of stones? So I was a bit concerned I wouldn't be able to perform the massage as taught.
I will check out the Stone Forest website and ask the universe to provide what is necessary!
Many thanks.
