How do you know what colours suit you?
Question:

How do you know what colours suit you?
  Hi again

Sorry for this but how do you know what colours work best for you?

I think my fear of colour is only because i dont know which colours to go for!

I have dark brown hair and eyes and average skin colour.

What should i go for?

This is me with scary red eyes on honeymoon! I have darker shorter hair now with a fringe!!

This might help http://www.trinnyandsusannah.com/features/whichcolours/ (the menu's along the bottom, btw, in case you miss it!). There was a thread about it here :)

I think it is really a matter of trial and error. I didn't think I would be able to wear mustard with my colouring, but I tried it on and now it is a staple in my wardrobe this season!

The T&S guide is a reasonable starting point (although certainly not an exhaustive list). It'll give you some idea of where to begin though.
I'm not a huge fan of all this warm/cool stuff (for one thing, I don't really fit into either category very well!). Instead, try to assess colours against your skintone. Hold a colour near your (unmade up!) face in good natural daylight, and see if it tends to highlight imperfections (such as dark circles, redness, etc!). If it does, or it makes you look ill, then it's not going to flatter you. Some colours may also clash with your skintone (many shades of mustard look terrible on me, for example) or drain your skin of colour. You'll soon learn to spot what suits you and what doesn't.
I'm also a believer in wearing colours that you're drawn to, since generally (certainly not always!) they tend to be ones that will suit you. And if they aren't, then chances are you can still find a shade that will work on you. Case in point: Someone with very cool colouring - pale skin and black hair for example - is probably going to look a bit off in a warm muted rusty olivey green, but will look great in a strong vivid emerald green.
