shoes to look elegant with dress
hi there ladies
I bought a fab dress in Karen Millen last week for a dinner Im going to in a few weeks. It comes just below my knee, and there are silver beads along the hem. its chiffon, and fitted at the boobs, with some silver beading there as well, and then empire line. Im so crap at describing things! anyway, i need to get a pair of shoes to go with it. What i want to know is this : should I go for a safe pair of black/silver sandles/peeptoes, or should i go for a contrasting pair of blue or red shoes. Will this ruin the elegance of the dress?

I had a lovely navy satiny chifon skirt from monsoon with gold detailing (doesnt sound good but it is!) and I found a pair of shoes in TK Maxx that tied round the ankle and just had a really fine strap across my foot in gold, they went really well coz it was so thin and left the skirt to stand out, hope that makes sense!
Unless of course you want a statementy pair of shoes?

Contrast coloured shoes might work if they have some kind of black or silver element to 'tie' them to the dress. Also, you'd have to accessorise carefully, or the outfit won't work, imo. I'm sure that you could pull off a quirky elegance, and needn't just stick to safe black or silver.
