Question:
Is your mum stylish?
Following on from the sister thread I thought I'd ask another family related question. Is your mum stylish, do you see her as a style inspiration or is your interest in fashion totally alien to her?
My mum dresses in a quite frumpy and dare I say it 'old' way. Since having children she has become a size 16/18, and is 5'9", so feels really 'big'. She has got quite a lot of broken veins too, which must be through drinking/smoking/sun exposure (which is why I stay away from the two latter). In the winter she will always wear a plain sweater, jeans or some nasty ish trousers and mens boots. I think the problem is that she doesn't see herself as being worth spending time or money on, and is so used to being a 'wife' and 'mum' that her identity has got lost. I have tried to encourage her to spend more on herself and feel more confident, but if we go shopping she gets upset. I even bought her Trinny and Susannah's book which she poo pooed. When she worked she looked quite smart, but now she has retired I don't think she cares. When she was younger she was incredibly fashion conscious and I wonder what happened.
By contrast I am obsessed with clothes and fashion, and hope I don't ever loose the desire to look good. I have no idea where my interest came from, but know that if my mum knew how much some of my shoes or my here cost she would go mad!
not exactly stylish,but she does like her clothes,like me.I think she was quite stylish back in the day though,I can remember some of the clothes she used to wear when I was little.
yes - very much in a classic way, she favours shops like Hobbs, Jigsaw etc, but has lots of printed skirts, bright colours which really suit her.
She makes jewellary, so is always decked out in plenty of contemporary designs, and is never without her mulbery baby roxy.
I often borrow (steal :whistle: ) clothes from her, so I have to say she's fashionable really :lol:
Its really cool, my mum is really stylish, and looks really young for her age as well. She knows how to dress for her shape, and knows what suits her. She's quite 'arty' but in a stylish way, and never looks like she's trying to be younger than she is. She's a style icon, and my best friend!

My mum has always looked absolutely stunning, and still does at almost 60, she in no way looks her age.
