Question:
mulberry bayswater help!!
i'm really worried about my practically brand new oak bayswater. the 'varnish' stuff on the edges of the leather is all peeling off and is making the bag look all scruffy, i'm sure this isn't meant to happen (my blenheim bag that i've had for about three years now is as good as new, none of the varnish on that one looks even close to peeling stage).
plus, the leather is getting scratched so easily, it looks awful, and the glue where the handles are is really obvious. is any of this normal? i mail ordered the bag from harrods about 4 weeks ago, is it worth contacting mulberry about this? i'm sure it can't be normal wear and tear, i've really looked after it since i got it, has anyone else had problems like this? :(
eta: the reason i've started to worry about this now is that i saw someone with an oak bayswater in town today and it looked so beautifully aged and sophisticated, while mine just looked cack! i was so ashamed, i love my bag and just want it to be perfect!:boohoo:
Hi super*frankie
I really don't think that's 'normal' for a bag that's supposed to be as well crafted as a Mulberry bag. I have a Blenheim (a 21st pressy from my parents) and a Phoebe that I bought last year and neither have anything like you've mentioned. I was going to ask if there was a way it might not be authentic, but if you got it from Harrods it certainly shouldn't be a replica!
I would suggest taking it back to Harrods first (do you have the receipt?). They may suggest a refund or exchange. I know Mulberry are very efficient with making sure their products are always first class so they may either repair it for you or replace it if you don't have any joy with Harrods.
Definitely try and get it sorted though because after spending that amount of money on a bag you need it to be perfect!
Good luck xx
 thanks, i'm glad you agree, i've called harrods and they are going to get back to me. i guess they should do something, the varnish stuff is there to protect the edges so the bag lasts forever - it's not right for it to fall apart after a month, looking at it you'd be forgiven for thinking i'd got it at the market
I hope you get them to do something! I'm sure a company like Harrods will get it sorted. I know it must be really annoying when you've gone to the trouble of getting a lovely bag like that and it's not exactly right. I'm sure it'll be OK though, really I imagine either Harrods or Mulberry are obligated to sort it for you.
Hope it all goes OK! xx

Same here - I am very surprised that a Mulberry bag would do that  I've got a black (authentic) Bayswater and it still looks as good as the day I bought it, so it sounds like yours is faulty or something - maybe something wasn't finished off properly when they manufactured it. Harrods should definitely sort it for you, but if you have no joy with them then try emailing Mulberry from the link on the website, they're really helpful :great:
Hope you get it sorted - I treat my heres like babies, and it's so upsetting if something goes wrong isn't it! I've got ink on my Mulberry Ridley and I nearly cried when I saw it :o
