Dodgy card stuff on Oxford Street- please read
Question:

Dodgy card stuff on Oxford Street- please read
On Sunday I went to OC with Mr Lucy and I wanted to pay for my jeans in a certain well known high street shop with a cheque. The girl SA walked off with my card (note: not the cheque), came back after about 5 minutes and said that they couldn't accept the cheque. When pressed she couldn't tell me why really. I was puzzled as there was plenty of money in there. Mr Lucy paid for the jeans with cash instead.
Today I tried to use my card for the first time since. It was rejected by 5 different cash machines. I phoned my bank when I got back and they said they'd been trying to contact me on my mobile (I had been wondering what that 'private number' was!) because a strange payment had attempted to go out. They said the payee was showing up as 'closing' which is apparently a classic fraud sign. It was for the same amount as the jeans had been but the guy said that the payment hadn't tried to go through a normal chip and pin machine, it was some other form and wasn't showing up as the shop I'd been to either.
He said they'd hold any payments from the same payee from coming out my account, and to notify them of any other dodgy-looking payments. He then unlocked my card.
Just thought I should warn you all- not sure what this was all about but be careful.

Oh no! Which shop?

Thanks for the warning Lucy, I'm very paranoid about people walking off with my card now, I've heard the same thing happen to friends. Glad you got it sorted.

S'alright GATC.
I'll pm you, Mitchey. Don't want to name names because it'd basically mean I'd be pointing fingers at them for fraud.
