lurker alert! need advice

I've been lurking in the Fashion forum for aaaaages, and I feel as if I "know" most of you! :o So, I'm plucking up the courage to ask you all for some fashion-related advice.
I'm thinking of getting my nose pierced and I'd like some advice. Has any of you done it? Does it hurt? Have you regretted it? If you don't wear a nosering every day, is the piercing really visible?
All in all, I'd like to hear people's experiences and views on that before I make my decision. thanks everybody! :)

I had my nose pierced 7 years ago when I was at college and I still wear a ring every day. It didn't hurt as much as getting my ears pierced but you need to make sure that whoever does it pierces it with needle and not a gun - it will heal much quicker.
I started wearing a stud in it but it got infected quite a lot so now I only wear a ring. Even my dad like it so it can't be all bad, and a lot of people take a really long time to notice it's there at all. Oh, and I get quite a lot of elderly people who peer at it and ask if it hurts and whether it's easy to take out etc.
I've never really taken it out for a long time but the hole's pretty small and I reckon it would heal up pretty quickly if I wanted it to and not scar, so if you had it done and didn't like it you could just take it out and forget about it.

I'm afraid I'm pretty much useless with piercing questions. I've only ever had my ears pierced before.
