Another fancy dress (sorry!)

Me and a friend from work are going on a conference in a couple of weeks and have been told the evening is fancy dress. The theme is children's tv/film/ book characters. We were thinking of going out afterwards so we still want to look reasonably good!
We were thinking pirates but that's a bit predictable.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas? :think:

How about the Owl and the Pussycat? Slighly unusual but not too obscure and relatively easy to sex up.
Alice in wonderland and the cheshire cat?
I have loads of ideas for kids telly theme but none that will look hot for going out. Im having a fancy dress party on saturday (heroes & villians) and was desperately trying to get someone to come as Cyril Sneer. Funnily enough nobody took my idea up.
