Question:
If I stockpile bras, will they perish and become unwearable before I wear them?
I hate it when my fave bra style is discontinued. I have 32G boobs and it is hard to find perfect bras. Anyhoo, my fave style bra was discontinued but has now reappeared again - if I stockpile them will they perish before I wear them?
Not unless they're made of cheese....
But seriously - they lose elasticity through body heat and otherwise get worn down by washing. So if you're not wearing them, I'd imagine they'd be fine.
I don't know exactly how long they last but yes, elastic will perish with time and the bras will become unwearable. When I worked in lingerie I had sooooo much underwear, including 130 bras at one stage (plus all the bits that went with them). Unfortunately I noticed that a lot of them perished with time despite not being worn frequently and washed with care.:boohoo:
You'd probably be better off getting a new one and getting an experienced dressmaker to draw up the pattern for making it and then you could order some whenever you want regardless of whether they are still being commercially manufactured. I only know of Rigby & Peller who custom-make lingerie but I am sure there are individuals who do it. Probably someone experienced in theatre costuming would knwo what to do.
I still miss my favourite bra, Warners Beautiful something or other. I bought so many of those when they were discontinued but never got around to getting one made for me, hmmmmmm.....
:boohoo: thanks guys!
My elastic hair accessories tend to perish even though I don't wear them so I imagine it's the same thing. I had lovely lily ones from Johnny loves Rosie - all dead now......
eek, sounds like I'm wrong then. Ignore me.
I must be thinking of lycra which is affected by body heat, rather than elastic.
