Ring adjustment
Question:

Ring adjustment
  Hi everyone.
When I was away recently I got a lovely silver and platinum ring. However, I've now realised that when I got it my fingers were obviously a bit swollen from walking around and now it is too big. Does anyone know if I can get it re-sized anywhere? I know jewellers re-size their own rings, but would they do one bought elsewhere?

Answers:

Hi there -
If you want the ring re-sized and not just a bar put in it, a reputable jewellers should be able to do this without a problem.
I think you would be better off going to an independent jewellers rather than a large chain though.

Sorry to hijack but I've got a ring that needs resizing too - what's the difference between that and having a bar put in?

Answers:

A bar literally goes across the bottom of the inside of the ring, essentially making the 'circle' smaller and keeping it on your finger, but the actual size of the ring doesnt change.
Resizing is where a piece is cut out of the ring and resealed, literally making the ring itself smaller.
Hope that makes sense, it was really hard to explain!

Answers:

they take a lil bit out of the ring and reshape it...its perminant unlike the bar. if that makes sense?
