Bargains in London - markets/vintage shops??
Question:

Bargains in London - markets/vintage shops??
I'm going shopping to London at the weekend but want alot for my money..!!! (doesn't everyone!). So Camden is a definite and Portobello Road for the vintage shops.
I need a new coat because I'm going to Prague for a long weekend and its going to be cold...but nothing else in particular just whatever i find...bits and bobs like accessories too, just everything!!!
But i also want other new places to explore...I'm thinking Covent Garden - but dont know if it is any good?
Does anyone know of anywhere?
Thanx Pink_Innocence x

Visitors love Camden but I personally hate it. I don't have the patience to sift through all the dodgy PunkyFish numbers and it has got so much worse since they closed half the market down and turned it into a hideous wooden shopping precint thing inthe middle of the market. It is good for the few vintage shops there but it is absolutely packed on weekends though shouldnt be too bad as it's not really 'tourist' season.
Portobello is great and although alot of the vintage stuff is mucho expensiveo its nice :D
Covent Garden has a few vintage shops and lots of high street stores its my fave :throb:
You could also check out Spitalfields and Brick Lane. They tend to have lots of 'up-and-coming-fresh-out-of-central-saint-martins-fashion-school' designers so can be a bit expensive but you'll definitely find alot of very unusual, one off pieces
Happy Shopping :D

On Sunday, try Spitalfields market and the vintage shops in the east end. There's another market (in a car park!!) just down the road from Absolute Vintage on Hanbury St whose name I forget. There are other vintage shops, here are a few:
Beyond Retro
112 Cheshire Street
Tube: Aldgate East
Rokit
107 Brick Lane
Tube: Aldgate East
Absolute Vintage
15 Hanbury Street
Tube: Aldgate East/Liverpool St
Also try Cornucopia and Retromania for Vintage, both on Upper Tachbrook St near Victoria station. Round the corner at 19 Churton Street is the Cruisaid charity shop - a MUST. Saw a purple velvet YSL skirt in there for £15 one time!! Often has designer gear at bargain prices.
Alfie's antiques market in Marylebone, 13-25 Church St (Edgeware Rd tube) is a treasure trove of real vintage but not that cheap.
HTH. Have fun!
