Ball etiquette?
  Hi everyone. I don't usually post in fashion, but I really need help! I know Paris_gal has posted a question about ball gowns, but this is slightly different.
I have been invited to a work's annual ball, and have no idea what sort of dress is appropiate for these kind of events. I know they guy's will be wearing tux's, so will I need a long dress or can I get away with one that falls below the knee, like an 'a' line style strapless dress?
I know it sounds silly but I can't ask the person I am going with because we are only dating so I don't want to look clueless!
Help?!




I don't think you should feel 'clueless' running it by him. There might be a dress code on the invite for example.
Does the choice of venue give any indication as to how formal it might be?




From what I gather it is quite formal. It is being held in quite a nice hotel. I have never been to anything like that before though so I really don't know!




If its very formal then i would def go for a long dress. But just ask him. like pandora said it might state black tie etc on the invite




If it's black tie does that mean long formal dresses?!
