Shopping Buddy?!
Question:

Shopping Buddy?!

Hi all, I know I pop on here from time to time with a 'help' type question, but I was wondering whether I could join you all on a more regular basis? I've been lurking for a bit and have rather liked it!
Anyway, I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to clothes, my wardrobe is full of stuff I've had for about 10 years and the newer stuff I do have is just basics like vest tops that I'll pop into a shop and buy then run away.
The main problem is that I HATE shopping! I think this has much to do with the fact that the only girlfriend I have lives about 300 miles away (I used to enjoy going shopping with her when we were younger) and none of the male friends I have would be interested in going really. MrBB also hates shopping and so I don't enjoy going with him. I need a shopping buddy really to go with me and tell me what suits me and tells me when I try something that looks bl**dy awful!
I'm hoping that by hanging round here a bit I'll get some ideas and start to update my wardrobe a bit (actually start to spend money on clothes, I would guess I currently spend £50 a year on clothes). I do buy clothes for events such as weddings, but these happen rarely and generally I go for vintage stuff for those occassions.
The style I currently have is like a grungy student with basic trousers and shirts for work. I have visions of some 50's chic happening at some point!
Anyway, sorry for the rambling, maybe I should have just said...
Hello, my name's BB, I'm 29 and I don't know how to shop (or put on makeup!).
:D

Hello BB, it's lovely to see you here
I'm not a fan of shopping in shops either (unless it's a day out involving coffee and cake, then lunch, then cocktails and cake :munch: :wine: ) so I tend to do most of mine online. It doesn't help that my local shops are rubbish, but I also like being able to take my time and browse online without having to deal with pushy shop assistants, flourescent lighting and all the other horrors of real life shops.
If you want some inspiration then look out for the links in people's sigs to their Style Diaries. I am always in awe of how some of the girlies on here put their outfits together and how they make something that I wouldn't have looked at twice look fantastic.
1950's chic is a fab look and very 'you' from the piccies I've seen, and you live in the right place for vintage shops!
Anyway, I'll stop rambling. Welcome to Fashion :)

Thanks Shiny, I'll look forward to my Trinny and Suzannah experience (especially if it involves cake and cocktails!).

Hello BB. Not much help to give other than to encourage you to visit more often to ask advice etc - people here are very helpful.
Internet shopping could definitely be the way forward for you so long as you don't mind going to the post office for returns.
I'm not great with make up either and still rubbish in heels!
