How do you hand wash your clothes?
Question:

How do you hand wash your clothes?
I have quite a few items in my wardrobe that are dry clean or handwash only. I did a moleskin skirt at the weekend that stank of smoke from wearing it on a night out but the soap flakes i use are scent free so the stink is still there.
I'm just curious as to what other people use or do and any handy tips for washing delecates and still getting them to smell fresh!!

For delicates I use a special liquid detergent which is designed for washing wool and silk items. It is slightly scented, in a nice way and Ive never had any problems getting rid of the smoky smell.

I hand wash all my bras and delicates (wool/cashmere etc) and anything I am paranoid will stretch.
I use liquid detergent specifically for handwashing delicate items, i use the Ecover one but there are lots readily available in the supermarket.
PS - anything really delicate like silk (or satin) shouldn't really be left sitting in detergent too long, it can start to break down delicate fibres. Just long enough to get the (rank) ciggarette smell out!!

I put them through the handwash cycle on the washing machine, with a bit of ecover :o

haha, me too! :o if you're worried about washing something, and apart from the cigarette smells it's basically clean, then hang it outside (in summer) or next to an open window for a while and the wind will blow all the smell out.
