mulberry owners - can you help me not buy a fake??
Question:

mulberry owners - can you help me not buy a fake??
got the offer of an AMAZING aqua Mulberry Roxy via ebay, but want to be 100% I'm not dropping £200 on a big fat fake!
Got really good pics, and the serial number on the back of the metal tag starts with 02 (does that mean 2002?) and on the leather Mulberry tag inside there is a faintly embossed "LR" on the bottom right - does this sound normal?
I have pics in my photobucket I can link anyone in the know to - just a bit nervy, as I don't want to get shafted :)
any comments?

If you are not 100% sure then I'd suggest waiting a week till the sales start and see if you can pick one up half price. As far as bags on ebay go I tend to think that if the deal's too good to be true then it's best to stay away.
Aqua Roxy? I'm by no means a Mulberry expert but I don't remember that colour. Unless it IS a 2002 bag in which case I wouldn't know :uzzle: Sorry I can't be more help. Maybe post the pics here, especially detailed pictured of small details like screws, those things will often give a fake away.

thanks loony - i actually just had a really lucky escape - i found this pDf on authenticating and it failed all of the tests! http://www.geocities.com/oak_oscar/fbi.pdf
Remarkable, as it did look awesome, so just shows you that ebay is dodgier than a 5 bob note when it comes to this stuff..
just out of interest, where do you recommend getting a half price one in the Jan sales? should i dispatch my aunt to the factory outlet in York or try Harvey NIcks? or maybe online?

The online sale always seems pretty good to me.

I can't remember aqua being a colour but you never know. I know Mulberry did change their system a few years ago or so but the new Roxannes do not have serial numbers behind the tags. Fakes these days are brilliant though, esp with colours. The only giveaway that is really obvious is that fake Oaks tend to be too orangey. And often on ebay they have photos of real ones and the one you get looks totally different.

I reckon your best bet would be an online sale - you can get Mulberry seasonal colours from this and previous seasons for up to 50% off and IT WILL BE NEXT WEEK!!!!! Try NAP and the mulberry site every day after Christmas as they go fast!
