Primark Snobbery
Question:

Primark Snobbery
Were any of you primark snobs but converted later?
and are any of you very reluctant to buy/shop there because you know a million other people may be wearing it when you go out because of how cheap it is?? :cmeek:
How do you get over it?

I've always loved Primark, never been a snob about it! It's fab. The quality is very hit-and-miss, but they're so good at picking up trends that are going to only last a while anyway, so I'd much rather pay Primark prices e.g £10 for a dress rather than £40 in Topshop or whatever. If you want to get over your snobbery, think about the fact that Primark pieces are quite often featured in fashion magazines now :D
Mind you, I only lived near a Primark when I went away to uni - we don't have one in my hometown so I could buy loads of bargainous stuff there, then come home in the holidays and nobody would be wearing the same stuff. I don't know if I'd love it quite so much if we had one at home, I think it would be a bit of overkill.

yes i rather like the fact that you can't find primarks EVERYWHERE. that way not everyones wearing the same clothes or can even tell where its from.
and i knw about the snobbery thing, i dont even buy that much stuff frm there but because i go on about it all my friends always joke about everything new i get 'OH IS THAT FRO PRIMARK' lol losers. and also a lot of their stuff is quite generic, as in u cant tell its from there. take a plain black cardigan for example. or a plain mustard long sleeve t shirt.
and gj, ur so right about the quality. sometimes they fall apart after 1 wear but ive been quite impressed with some of the items. ive worn some tops like 5 times now!!!

i'm not too keen on primark just cos of the quality of the clothes. i bought a skirt from there once and it just fell apart after washing it! shame cos i think some of the clothes are really nice :cmdunno:

I used to be a bit of a primark snob but Im not anymore. True, sometimes I go in and think 'what a load of old tat', or I'll pick something up and the material and manufacturing is horrid  but then again there are definately hidden gems to be found. Ive had stuff from there that has lasted me ages (does anyone remember the embroidered linen skirt they did one summer for £8 that was v similar to one french connection did for about ten times that price?!) I always look at the label aswell, to see what things are made of.
I think that in general places that sell cheaper items have become more accepted, as getting a bargain is so well regarded now. Saying 'oh its from primark/asda/tesco' is almost something to be proud of when receiving a compliment :D
