Question:
Dry Cleaning
Hello,
Never posted on here before, but figured you ladies would be able to help answer my query.
I have a top and skirt from Coast. Bought Summer 05 for a wedding. Outfit worn once, but soon to be work again!
It has been hung up in the wardrobe all that time and looks ok, though on close inspection (as you do pre wedding outfit wearing) I can see a few lines/marks. Just wondering how much damage dry cleaning would do it (it is dry clean only). I only ask as one friend warns me to dry clean infrequently as it can fade/damage the material, but I am thinking she may mean if you dry clean a lot rather than once a year!
May well get to wear the outfit for another wedding next Autumn, hence if I dry cleaned it now and then, would it cause that much fading/long term damage?
Cheers in advance xx
I'm by no means a dry-cleaning expert but I'm sure it won't do much harm to have it dry cleaned occassionally. However I had a dress that I wore for a wedding and didn't inspect until months later, just before I wanted to wear it again and found some tiny little stains and unfortunately the dry-cleaning didn't remove them. The dry-cleaner gave it a good go - he did it twice (no fading) but it was a chiffon material and he said he could do much more as it was too delicate. So depending on what they are, the stains might not come out if you've left them so long.
Occasional dry cleaning should be fine but if they're particularly delicate items (i.e. delicate/specialist dry clean only) make sure they are put through a delicate clean rather than a "regular" dry clean. A good dry cleaner should have no problem with this (though it will likely cost slightly more).
