Question:
Reiss returns policy
Hey guys, haven't posted for ages as I'm now studying and trying to only spend my time on the compulsory things, but have been lurking a bit - loving LP's Paddington!
I bought a pair of linen trousers in Reiss in about July and I wore them the other day only to find that the material around the seat has worn completely through - I sat down and heard a massive rip! Now it's not as if I've gained weight, and they aren't tight trousers, so I don't think it's my fault!
Obviously I don't have the receipt any more but they would presumably recognise them as this summer's collection, so should I take them back? I doubt they will replace them but should they refund me? I am pretty poor now I'm only working part time and they were actually my favourite work trousers - and for £89 I expect them to last longer than 4 months - maybe I'm just naive? :cmdunno:
Reiss dont give refunds if I'm not mistaken they only give you vouchers. I bought a dress from them the xmas before last and all the beads fell off after one wear! It cost £120 so I took it back but they would only give me vouchers.
Thanks Cyprian - vouchers are better than a pair of useless trousers I guess!
I'm guesing you've taken them back by now. But for future reference if an item is faulty then under s.14 Sales of Goods Act a retailer must give you your money back. Obviously whether an item 's 'faulty' is up for debate, it depends how long you've had it, how long you would reasonably expect something to last, etc. Trousers ripping after four months wear and given the price I'd say they were faulty. You don't need your receipt to return anything.
Hope you got it sorted anyway.
But you will need a proof of purchase though such as card statement if paid by card. They probably offer you can exchange since they were summer collection. Also you need to bear in mind that the prce for the item may have gone down now.
