Question:
sloghtly OT - need to buy thread and needles anda garment bag!!!
Hi,
i couldn't think of any other forum to post this....
Just bought a dress for my work christmas do, which is on friday, so I'd have to take the dress into work and change there. Now, I have never had a garment bag before - do they sell them in all luggage shops? or should i go to a specific store? I'd rather buy a cheap one, don't need anything fancy!
And, I need to make slight alterations to my dress - where on earth do i get thread and needles etc from?(I moved to London in summer and until now haven't had to sew anything, hence my stupid questions).
I work in the City, so any stores around there would be perfect
Thanks,
Chamiga
Have you got a John Lewis near you? They should have the needles and thread, and probably will also have the garment bags. I think you can also get them from drycleaners.
g_k
I was also going to recommend John Lewis. If not, do a search on Yell.com or Thompson local for your nearest Haberdashery store. :)
When I read the title of this thread I was also thinking John Lewis! Or if you have any independent haberdasheries near you they would prob have all the items you need.
Try Wallis & McCulloch who are at 25 - 26 Dering Street, London, W1S 1AT. It's off Oxford Street and is the little side road just before New Bond St if you are coming from Oxford Circus.

They have a shop at 455 Oxford St.
