Question:
Reiss Knitwear handwashing diasaster
I decided to handwash a Reiss fine knit shrug tonight.
It states on the label 'dry clean only' but it's 100% wool, so I thought it would be fine with a cold hand wash with dreft. I plunged it in the water, swilled it around and left it while I made my sandwiches for tomorrow. (emmental cheese, celery and mayo on wholemeal if anyone wonders). I then swilled it again - no wringing or anything and when I lifted it out it's got about 7 or 8 holes in it all over ranging from about 1/2 cm to about 2 cms long. :boohoo: It's the first time I've washed it and am devastated.
I don't suppose there's anything I can do is there? I guess they'll just say I should have followed the label instructions and it's my own fault - but I don't even know what could have caused it. Anyone know how generous Reiss are with things like this?
hmmm, well, it has been raining a lot recently and there was nothing in the label that says you shouldn't wear it in the rain, after all, it is a shrug and meant as a cover up, how did you know that you would get caught leaving the theatre in the pouring rain and end up with a holey shrug etc etc etc, can they imagine your embarassment when your expensive clothes started falling apart.......
Crikey  that's appalling!!! I would use Blondes excuse and plead ignorant to any handwashing and this shouldn't have happened to begin with.
I think they're quite good with stuff like this, at least my local branch is and we get discounts from the manager, but I think they send it off to head office to be checked?
If you have problems Pops, I'll take it into mine if you like and see if they can sort it?
Thanks both. Blonde, I like your style! I don't know if I'd be able to pull it off with a straight face though!
Weenie, thanks for the offer, I'll let you know how I get on.
