Question:
Slightly O/T but am fuming and miserable...

Well, the saga of the Crimbo do goes on...
Ive not been at my new company very long (only a couple of months) so when the Christmas party invitation came round with the dress code stated as "formal" I was doubly sure to find out how "formal" it meant. i was told that whilst a lot of people do wear the full black tie shebang, that some people just go for smart suits (men) and tops and skirts and "party wear" for the ladies. The venue itself has no dress code so its not like we need to be stringent.
I get in this morning to find one of the organisers having a bit of a moan as a lot of people have emailed him about the dresscode. he has now sent an email to clarify stating that its "black tie as usual". !?!?!?!?!?
Im a bit pished off tell the truth. being the new girl I was so careful to make sure I (and my beloved partner) wouldn't feel out of place and now Im fretting in case my beloved and I look like the poor relations!
To top it off, my plans to have my hair done nicely by my sister so that I at least felt fancy pants from the neck up has been scuppered as the poor thing has thrown her back out. Spoke to her yesterday and asked if i should try and get a last minte hair dressers appointment - she assured me that at the worst she would be able to tidy my fringe up and stuff. Spoke to Mother this morning who says my sister is only just able to go to the loo on her own today!
Its all fallen apart and now I don't even want to go. Stupid sodding crappy work do!
How frustrating. Is there anyway you can get around it? I always think "black tie" is easier for women anyway as is quite vague. It will be difficult for your OH though...
Poor you!
Also wanted to say that I love the term "Baglettes"
I would say, I'm sorry for asking but I am new, (so you don't know what as usual is) and also say black tie is different to what you were originally told so can he clarify what he means by that. Are you sure you can't get a last minute hair appointment? I know your sister said she would help but you don't want to make her worse?
Theres absolutely no way Im having my lil sis struggle to give me a lovely go-ey out do when shes only just able to get up to go to the toilet - its just typically sods-lawish of my luck for it all to go to pot at the last like this.
Feeling a bit blue and low generally so should probably just quick with the whining and get a grip!
Sorry to hear that weezie. Hope your sister gets better soon.
What are you and your partner planning on wearing at the moment?
