Question:

Does anyone else feel a bit *meh* about this seasons offerings?
I can't seem to find anything I like this season and I'm really not enamoured with this seasons trends. Tartan, Leopard print, Patent...I'm just not really into it.
In fact when I went shopping on Sunday, the one thing I really wanted I couldn't find (I just want a black wool tunic dress that I can wear shirts under, is it too much to ask!?)
Anyone else feeling like every shop they go into is the same old boring "on trend" shit!?
In fact the only store I visited which had a vaguely different selection was French Connection.

I know what you mean. I've always loved tartan and leopard print so I already have loads of leopard things, but I'm just not keen on the fashions around at the mo in general. I hate skinny jeans. I'm slim but I carry my weight on my thighs and bum so they just make me look out of proportion. I hate platforms and cone heels as they make my feet look huge and clumpy. And I also find that with fashion, it turns it to a bit of a uniform. Like, someone will say "xxx is fashionable now" so everyone wears it. Remember a couple of years back, everyone was wearing a sports type vest top with jeans, uggs or Westwood style pirate boots and a parka with fur round the hood. And I mean EVERYONE!!! It was just like a uniform!
I don't bother with the highstreet that much now. You're right - boring.
Oh dear, this has turned into a rant. Sorry. I should make a rule not to here when I'm feeling hormonal!

i agree entirely!
went on a shopping trip a few weeks back and came home virtually empty handed! even my old fave H&M let me down! all shops seem to have the same stuff, and if you dont want to wear that "uniform" you are kind of stuck.
still, i am just thinking of the money i am saving and looking forward to spring! YAY!

it's not that i don't really like the current 'trends' but i find it hard to wear them to suit my style IYKWIM?

Hi everyone
Yeah, i definitely agree with all that. I just don't think the high street is particularly inspiring or original this season. And a lot of the trends around at the moment just aren't all that flattering unless you're really skinny - like the whole slouchy sweater dress thing just doesn't look right on me (i'm a size 12, 5' 6, but i haven't got the greatest legs), and i know you can wear them with trousers but when i've tried that it just all looks a bit sloppy. And what's with all the day dresses on the high street at the moment - they're all really short, or in horrible granny-style prints and styles that might look great on the catwalk, but just don't work in real life. I think it's all a bit try-hard this season, and there's no proper variety so everyone ends up looking the same anyway!
If you think back to every decade of the last century, you can think of the popular fashions and styles, but what will people remember about 2006 - shoeboots?
