Question:
do you think this would be ok?
I have just pulled out my red winter coat and Its looking a little grubby.
I can't get to the dry cleaners for awhile, I wondered if It would be ok on a cool wash. (I'm think when It comes to washing!)
Has anyone ever done this?
The label states dry clean only.
The material is 80% pure new wool and 20% polyamide.
The lining is polyester

There's a high possibility it would shrink. I would only consider it if your machine has got the wool platinum care badge on it with a specific setting for wool.
I personally wouldn't risk it unless it was a coat I wasn't that bothered about, that way it wouldn't matter if it got trashed.
I put absolutely everything in my machine and so far so good. I have washed coats in the past and just hang them on a strong hanger straight away to dry.
I would go for it too - I handwash and sometimes machine wash all my garments that say dryclean!! To date I've had no problems - they just put that on to cover themselves most of the time;if anything drycleaning is a really harsh process on clothes and can wreck them.
The handwash cycle of the WM is fine on wool items, I use it all the time, never tried a coat though but if it's dried properly, it should be ok, I'd go for it
