My jeans are ruined
Question:

My jeans are ruined
Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but anyway.
I bought some lovely jeans from Red Herring in Debenhams - very faded, stretch bootleg jeans in short leg length, however, they were still a bit long on me so I took them to my mum's yesterday for her to take them up.
Anyway, she did them on her machine and because they are stretch, they've gone all wavy on the bottom and frankly, they look utter crap. :(
Is there anything that can be done? I've washed them and hope I might be able to iron them so they don't look as bad. They're still quite long - do you think I might be able to turn them up at the bottom and get someone to hand sew them, or will that look just as bad?
I really wish I hadn't asked her to do it now. Last time she took up some trousers for me she ended up cutting them with the scissors, and had to darn them. Luckily they were black so you can't really see it.
*sigh*

I've used wonderweb on stretch jeans and that's worked fine, could you undo what she's done and then maybe try that or has there been too much cut off?
My dressmaker does a great job on taking up stretch jeans and only charges £7, maybe get that done next time? Or see if one could sort them out now for you....

If you take them to a seamstress/dressmaker they'll be able to sort it out for you. They'll undo the hem that your Mum's done and hem them again using a stretch stitch.

Oh, that sounds much better - there is a lady down the road from me who does repairs and stuff, maybe I will take them to her. Damn my lazy mother! It was partly my own fault as I wanted them done straight away, as I am going to London at the weekend and I wanted to wear them. Maybe if I'd left them with her she would have done them properly...although maybe not!
Thanks, both of you. :)

It occurs to me that the only fault on your mother's part is her failure to teach you to do it yourself.
