Question:
Dyeing a Lambswool Shawl?
i bought a lovely lambswool shawl from ebay but with it being cream its totally unwearable - firstly i panick about getting it dirty secondly i dont wear enough browns to be able to pull off cream
i would get much more wear out of it in black
but how do i dye it and will it dye? i have never washed it as i think its dryclean only and am worried about shrinkage etc
any tips?
ideally want to do it this week so i can take it nstead of a coat to france this weekend!!
Yes wool dyes very well but you need the right sort of dye - I use Ashford dye which is available from fibre crafts shops, I know they do black. Wool is fine to heat to boiling point so long as you don't move it about (by stirring it etc) and don't take it out of a hot dye pot into cold rinsing water - that will shock it and cause it to felt. PM me with your email address and I'll send you more details.
oh fantabulous!!
pm is winging its way!!!!
thankyou!
