My first ever work dinner...
Question:

My first ever work dinner...
  Hi all!
Just got a call from a very frantic sounding woman instructing to meet her at 7pm tomorrow at an extremely expensive a la carte restaurant to meet an extremely rich multiple pharmacy owner and the communications manager of a huge wholesale firm. Why me?!
Anyway, I am totally stuck for what to wear. It's quite early on and there's no formal event afterwards (I am sure a lot of it will be spent talking about crappy work and how I can help them with their PR or something) so I don't think it will be black tie. Besides, I only have one formal gown and I will be seeing them again at least three times in black tie situations... In said dress, probably.
Basically, I am not rich, powerful, wise, as old as them or would ever usually be seen in somewhere like this. It won't command a suit, nor a floor length dress but I have to be uber smart - no ill-fitting camis which is what I usually wear.
I will be leaving here around 4 which means I'll have a chance to pick stuff up from town. Also, no trousers!! Any suggestions?!

Shove on a nice dress and some peeptoes and you'll be sorted. Wrap dresses are great because they are so versatile. :)

You've got time to go home though before going there?

Oh yes, definitely got time - I only live a few hundred yards from the restaurant. A wrap dress sounds like a great idea - I've seen loads and they're quite affordable.
Other wise I was thinking about a new black sleeveless shift dress, it finishes about 3" above the knee and I'd wear it with black opaques, a shrug jacket and heels - what do you think? The lady said I was just to wear whatever I was comfortable in, even jeans! It's not as formal as I thought so panic over. Thanks so much for your replies!
ETA: Short's a no-no I've discovered so I'm staying knee length! I'm sure I'll find something...
