Question:
best places to shop in london
Hi girls,
I'm viisting london for a few days..and need to know where's the best areas to go shopping..and maybe some of the alternative areas to explore...i'd like to visit portobello market..not sure on how to get to it though...
Thanks,
B
Ladbrooke Grove tube station is the nearest to Portobello Road market but Notting Hill Gate tube is also fairly nearby and possibly more useful as its on the Central, District & Circle lines. Just follow the crowds when you get off!
Although Oxford Circus is completely hideous at this time of year it probably is still a good place for getting all the major high st chains in a small area. Head up in the Bond St direction for Selfridges etc.
Covent Garden is good for smaller boutiques etc.
For more quirky stuff Spitalfields market (sundays) and surrounding area inc Brick Lane are good. Nearst tube is Liverpool St.
I would always recommend a trip to Topshop at Oxford Circus even if its the only shop on Oxford Street you go to (I could probably spend half a day in there anyway). The basement has other designers so you get much more than in the average TS.
There are some good little shops in the streets around Portobello Market too.
Where are the clothes stalls/shops on portobello?
I always just see the fruit & veg or bags and antiques?!
