Question:
Smart/casual for work
Hi all!
I start a new job tomorrow, and the dress code is smart/casual. I have recently split with my OH (last week) and want to look fabulous on my first day...
Any ideas for combinations? I don't have many "fashionable" clothes - and I usually live in jeans. I think I may need to go shopping one night next week ;)
Do you own a wrap dress? I wore a plain cotton plum-y one to work last week, with a brooch at the tie and a pair of heels - I thought I looked good anyway!
Other than that, I just wore black trousers, a beige wrap top and leopard print pumps on my first day.
I think if you just wear something quite plain and jazz it up with some statement jewellery and some killer heels you'll knock 'em all dead.
Good luck!

The dress code at my work is smart casual too. For us, all it really means is that the men dont have to wear jackets or ties. Its still ok to wear a suit if you want to.
I normally wear trousers and boots with either a blouse / fitted shirt and tops - nothing special really!
I like to wear a skirt for work as well, why dont you wear a pencil skirt with a shirt and maybe a scarf? I wear my office caves for work a lot too
We can get away with city shorts for work too, but you might not want to risk it on the first day!
Good luck

Eta - if in doubt, its always better to dress up than down
I have a Thomas Pink blouse like this...
which I was thinking of wearing with a beige skirt, and silver flat loafers? Maybe that's too casual though...
Or, beige skirt, black blouse, black shoes like this...
I don't have a wrap dress - must add that to my shopping list!
