Question:

Do you feel comfortable owning a VERY expensive item, or would you rather....
  Have 10 different items?
Reason I ask is, last saturday mr Cheeks & I visited every single shop I can think of to find me an outfit for Theo's christening, and I had £50 in mind to spend- roughly..
In the very end, just before the shops closed we went into Karen Millen - again, and I tried a different dress on, I hadn't seen the first time, and it looked FAB!
It's a sort of 40/50's swing dress black and white with a big bow under the bust and very prety IMO.
Anyway O/H loved it, and he said "get that then" and then, yes then I looked at the price and  :faint:
It was £160.. I promise you, the same style would be £40 in Warehouse etc..
So anyway, he said "oh ok then" and paid for it, but ever since I've felt really weird having a dress that expensive hanging in my wardrobe.
I keep thinkg "what if I don't like it next year, what if I only wear it twice, etc etc."
I am sooo close to taking it back, but durrr the money will go back on o/hs card or I'll get a voucher and still have no outfit..
Isn't it weird, I feel SO uncomfortable having this- purely cos of the price:confused:
I feel like wearing it with the tags and then taking it back  (won do that of course)..
Do you ever feel like that- or a I just weird?

Answers:

you'll get used to it;) . I think if you truly fall in instant love with something and it looks fabulous on then the love affair will never fade. You might put it away for a year or two but it sounds like the kind of dress you will wear to christenings and weddings for years. And if you do a cost per wear calculation it probably won't be that bad.
and, Karen Millen doesn't do refunds, just store credit:mad: .

Well Ellie, I'm a bit fickle and feel funny if I wear the same dress again, and I have NEVER kept a dress for say 2 years..
Well I WILL now
Mind you, white and black, you can't go wrong I suppose...
But you know, I could get a new pair of jeans, shoes, tops etc for that money :boohoo:
Why can't I just enjoy it:mad:

Miss Sweetcheeks, you carried that baby for 9 months and gave birth to him – you deserve the most fabulous dress ever for his christening!! Enjoy it. If I love something, and it makes me feel fab, I don’t worry about the price (well within reason that it!)

sorry, read your post quite quickly so didn't pick up it was for your child's christening - in that case I think you definitely ABSOLUTELY have to have something special to wear. And, I think it will be a bit like a wedding dress - a dress you never want to get rid of because it is associated with a significant event.
You could even make it a feature dress that you wear to each of Theo's b'days and when he gets older he'll think of it as "Mummy's dress for my christening".
that could be a bit naff but, sorry, I am feeling a bit hormonal today and have been topped off by that mother reading her letter to the judge about her daughter on the radio this morning. Made me cry so much I had to re-do all my makeup:( .
YOU loved it, HE loved it - its a special day, you keep it !
so, when do we get to see a picture and talk about the accessories:clap:
