Moving buttons/clasps on shorts
Question:

Moving buttons/clasps on shorts
Just received a pair of shorts from the Next Directory - they fit really well everywhere, apart from they're a bit tight across the waist. I know the next size up are massive, 'cos I tried them on in the shop when I first saw them a few months ago (and I've lost a few pounds since, so they'll be even bigger!).
I know I could probably move the button, but there's two kind of metal clasps that hook into each other - do you reckon I could/a dressmaker could (!) move these along a bit to 'accommodate my waist'?!??!
Might seem like a silly question but I'm pants at anything like this, so I'm sure one of you ladies will be in the know!
Thanks! :)

I'm pretty sure my mum had some trousers made bigger recently- i remember being surprised when she told me that they could do such a thing! That was at a dressmakers but i think they somehow put extra fabric in round the back rather than moved buttons etc  I'm not sure when i'll see her to ask but i'd say it's def. worth taking them to a dressmakers and asking!

Ah, thanks - well actually thinking about it, one of my friends is a bit nifty with a sewing machine, and my mum is too, so may get one of them to see if it's possible. Thanks!

If they are stitched on it will be a easy five minute job, if they are rivetted on it will be more of a pain but is still doable.

Oooh interesting thread. I have some skirts that are a bit big on me and was thinking if I could move the clasps they would be a better fit.
