Question:
Best H&M and Zara Home in Central London and Reading
This is kind of a little bit O/T (gasp) but I'm up to Reading on Tuesday and London on Wednesday and wondered if a lovely bagger could point me in the right direction for a spot of retail therapy! :D
I wanted to check out H&M for "that" grey H&M dress, some black elbow length gloves and the grey double breasted cardigan. Does anyone know which stores have these bits in at the moment? I know it's a long shot but in my 22 weeks pregnant condition I don't really want to be pounding the streets trying to track them down.
Also, I wanted to go Zara Home and have a mooch. Does anyone know the best one to go to please?
Thank you! :flower:
I don't know about "best" Zara Home but there is one on Regent Street.
The best H&M is High Street Ken. Honestly, I have been to them all (you knows it). OC branches are okay but you have to dig cos it's a constant jumble sale. Knightsbridge is beautifully laid out but doesn't seem to carry all the stock - probably becos it's quite touristy and the stock sells quickly. Therefore, HSK is the best becos it's nicely laid out and generally has good stock.
If you must do Oxford Street, then the branch opp Bond Street station is best.
hey Toosh
Not too sure about Reading, I've shopped there a couple of times and it's been pretty good buut i can't remember where the H & M is, poss in the Oracle centre... As far as I can remember there's a pretty good TS and New look and HUGE Primark.
As for Zara Home, if I were you I'd head to Knightsbridge rather than Regent Street as it'll be less crazy busy, esp for a lady in your condition  , it's a few shops away from Harrods and it's on top of a regular Zara so you can look at clothes too, and you get to check out Harrods and Harvey Nics and the very good H & M while you're there. The Regent St one is bigger, but could be very busy...
Thanks girls  PC, I was hoped you'd see this, being as you're the London H&M expert :D
Hopefully both H&M and Zara Home will have plenty of stock in :fingers:
There are two H&Ms in Reading - one is in the Oracle shopping centre next to HoF and the other is on the main shopping street outside the Oracle, up past John Lewis (on the opposite side of JL). The one in the Oracle has the more classic styles and the other one has the 'trendy' styles, more jeans etc - I'm not sure which dress you mean so can't tell you which shop it would be in.
I don't think there is any Zara Home, or at least I've never noticed any. It wouldn't be much of a trek to check it out though, as Zara is a few metres away from H&M in the Oracle.
There's a giant Primark, around the corner from H&M, but tbh I never go there - massive queues, jumble sale displays etc. Ugh.
TS is pretty good - I usually find what I want there and they have a vg range even though it isn't v big. It is also mere metres from H&M in the Oracle, with womens' wear upstairs. There's a big NL next to TS in the Oracle.
Apart from that, Reading has most of the usual culprits - Monsoon, M&S, Miss S, Kew, Whistles (in HoF), Zara, two Gaps, Debenhams, Mango, FC UK, etc etc. KG shoes are stocked in HoF, as are Bertie/Pied a Terre and a few others. If you like Warehouse, the concession in JL seems to be better stocked than the Warehouse shop itself, although there's nothing much else of interest in JL so probably not worth the trek.
HTH! :)
ETA: The H&M maternity wear is in the Oracle branch! ;)
