Question:
Does anyone have a love/hate relationship with H and M? Or any other shop?
I love H and M stuff. They always have quick turnover of stock, their stuff is cheap and up to the minute. But I hate trying to find anything or try anything on. It's a scrum, a jumble sale with so much stuff on the racks, their sizing is all over the place and I find the whole experience hugely frustrating. Especially if you are trying to find something that was a magazine. Every time I go there and hate it I don't even bother to say to myself 'that's it, I am not shopping here anymore'. Because I know I will.
I love H&M but despair at the fact the cram so much on the rails. It puts me off going there. It takes forever to go through to find your size and because you're pulling and pushing stuff in and out everywhere looks like a jumble sale! It was driving me mad yesterday!
I find the best time to go is early in the morning on a week day when everything's still neat and tidy.
Plus I hate the way they'll have something in a picture or on a mannequin but it's never nearby and is often right over the other side of the shop.
Now if we had H&M online shop in the UK, I think it might end up being my favourite store!
I agree that they've got some great stuff, but crap sizing as it's just all over the place most of the time. It just the racks of clothing always look like a jumble sale & it feels like such an effort to shop their some of the time, so I have to be in the mood to brave H&M.
My love/hate is with Topshop. I like going in their to see the latest designs they've come up with/ripped off and see what's available, but I hate the prices. I think a lot of the prices I've seen lately have just been ridiculous for what they're producing, especially given the fabrics they're using. Plus most of the things they have aren't unique enough to justify the prices they're charging.
I agree totally with H&M - I always give up after about 5 minutes of being in there - I get so angry with all these women shoving and pushing me around!! :boxing: But I do love their stuff!! I also have the Love/Hate with Topshop, and agree totally with you dolphins!! Their prices are getting ridiculous for a lot of their stuff!! Especially those £250 boots that CiC found the other day!! :faint:  They're High Street - not blooming designer!! :head:
My Love / Hate is with Primark! Everybody I know, especially you girls on here, have all managed to get the coolest stuff from Primarni - but every time I go in there I just don't seem to find anything! I always go to Lakeside one and I swear there's another floor hidden somewhere in that shop with all the goodies that everyone else has got hidden on it!!! OK, I've managed to get my black slams from there and the taupe slouchy ankle boots with the bow..... but apart from that I just can't see the cool clothes!!
I feel exactly the same. I particularly hate the Oxford Circus one, they pump out hideous techno dance very loudly and it is so crammed full of stuff and is always such a mess. It's almost as bad as Primark. But then, I like the one just down the road from it and the Knightsbridge/High St Ken ones which are totally different. I've always considered H&M to be my favourite shop, in terms of value and range, but surely it's not supposed to be so much effort!
Their sizing is really getting me down though. Recently I've been finding that their 16 skirts are too small for me. I've been down and must be comfort eating, so I just assumed that I was putting weight on. So when I was in New Look I didn't even bother with 14 in a skirt, just took the 16 in and it was way too big. So I haven't changed from a 14 to an 18 in 3 weeks, but will just have to accept that I'm an 18 bottoms in H&M!
I also recently discovered that it is almost physically impossible to track down things you like in other stores. I liked a dress and a skirt, the skirt was from the "Everyday" range which is supposed to be stocked in every store, and the dress was from a range called "Modern Classics" which is only stocked in certain stores. This, plus the "gold labels" etc. result in highly confusing and frustrating shopping! I dream of the day, a better world, where they have all their stock on a UK website....
Phew. Sorry. Sigh. Most cathartic.
