Ballet pumps - are they comfortable?
Question:

Ballet pumps - are they comfortable?
Here's the thing, I can't shop in heels, I just can't, I tend to slip on the tiled floors of the shopping centres or end up with huge, ugly blisters all over my feet. Unfortunately I have always tended to have really bad experiences with flat shoes as well. The last pair I bought rubbed on the back of my heels and gave me huge blisters. They got infected, my feet swelled up (so big i looked like i had no ankles) and i ended up in hospital!!
That leaves trainers, but the thing about shopping in trainers - even really nice ones - is that I feel really self concious going into posh shops - like everyone is staring at me thinking 'what's that scruff doing in a fashion shop?!' OK, so that may be paranoia, but anyway, I was wondering about ballet pumps - the ones made with softer materials - are they comfortable? Or do they tend to rub? It's getting a bit cold to be wearing flip flops or flat sandals now, but can anyone suggest any other flat shoe alternatives??

Answers:

I would get a really soft leather pair to try out - NL do a soft leather pair with slighty elasticated backs that wouldn't rub and the leather is quite thin but very supple. They're pretty cheap too.

I wouldn't recommend walking long distances in them - they're often made with very thin soles and whether these are manmade or leather, you'll probably still feel the cobblestones!
I sometimes wear flat boots - they won't slip off and if you buy some with a thicker (not kitten) heel they won't slip on tiles or wear through as quickly leaving that delightful silver prong poking out. I usually pull my jeans over my flat boots.

I live in my flats from Faith, they are so comfortable, made of a soft material that shapes itsself to your foot, I think they do silver, red or black ones just now. And they only cost £25.
The first few times I've worn them I stuck a wee plaster round the back of my heel, but they loosen up really quicky and don't hurt.
I think this is them, my monitor is rubbish so can't see too clearly, in the middle of the bottom row called Alkali are the ones I have!

Thanks for that, all the faith ones are really cute. I never thought about the fact the soles are thin either. I'll have to have a look around on my next shopping trip.
I saw some nice ones in New Look months ago for around £15, but I dont think they'll still have them - to be honest I cant really remember what they looked like though! Thanks 4 the advice tho
