Question:
"mini break" packing
Mr Tyla is whisking me away to Barcelona next week - we were going to go on a walking holiday to the Highlands but the weather forecast is wet and miserable whereas it's still 29 degrees in Barcelona so we're going there instead.:yay:
I'm not an experienced traveller (have been on holiday twice in my adult life so far) and have a tendancy to take far too much stuff wherever I go -please can someone advise me on what to take clothes wise? We'll arrive at lunchtime on Sunday and stay for 3 nights. Will be sightseeing in the day and eating out/drinking at night (only in bars, we're well past clubbing it ).
I dunno, I tend to take way too much stuff as well - I cannot *do* travelling light. I would take three pairs of jeans/trousers and two clean tops per day (one for the day, one for the evening).
it's a bit rubbish but you need the same amount of stuff for a long weekend as you do for a week.
1-2 pairs of jeans depending on how obsessed with jeans you are
an evening dress or two
a skirt or two
4-6 tops depending on laundry facilities/how often you're eating out
enough underwear to last the number of changes you want to make :flirt:
3ish pairs of shoes including or excluding slippers/flippies if you're that way inclined
and then of course make-up and all your other stuff...
Lucky you!
I go away quite a bit with work as well as loving long weekends and I pretty much think I've got my packing down to the minimum I need.
I'd take:
2 pairs jeans/trousers (wear one, pack one)
1 pair converse for sightseeing (wear)
2 pairs heels (pack)
1 dress (pack)
6 tops of varying warmth/dressiness (wear one, pack rest)
I don't really dress up *that* much in the evenings on city breaks, one dress for very dressy location and jeans/heels/top do me for slightly less dressy locations.
Oh, and ALWAYS pack more knickers than you need!
I can't do packing lightly:p
What I always do is have a browse through my clothes and then make a list of what I'm likely to wear during the day and during the evening, including shoes and accessories. That helps narrow things down. Then I add a couple of extra bits just in case I change my mind once I get there or I've taken something not suitable for the occasion.
I also pack ten thousand pairs of knickers! I'm not quite sure why though, I don't know what I intend to do with them:uzzle:
If you're only taking a small bag/case and you plan on taking a jacket it's worth taking it with you on the plane. You don't have to wear it once onboard but it saves precious packing room. If you're not taking a jacket a pashmina is great to snuggle in on the plane if it gets cold.
Oh, and if you don't plan on wearing socks with your travelling outfit take some in your hand lugguage as plans can get very nippy.
Also I always take a little concentrated travel wash for clothes in case I spill something-which usually happens:rolleyes:
Have a great time. Am very jealous;)
