Graduation dress zip dilemma!
Question:

Graduation dress zip dilemma!
  Hi everyone,
So I've just been invited to my friends graduation ball last minute ( I too should have been graduating this year but unfortunately I failed my 2nd yr :( )
Anyway- its only 2 weeks away, so i panicked a bit and tried hunting for a dress yesterday with no luck.. cant really afford £100 on a dress I'll probably never wear again..
So today, I went to a hire shop and tried this lovely dress on..however.. its a bit on the small side on the top half, and the zip at the back wont do up by about 6cm, which is gutting, because I like it so much.
My mum suggested buying a prom shawl thing that hangs on your arms, which will go round the back and cover it.. but I dont really fancy that, i think it'll bug me, and the more merrier I get on the night, the more likely I am to just take it off, exposing this zip disaster.
So really I need idea's to solve this problem?? It's not really possible to lose that much weight in 2 weeks that the zip will do up now, is it?
Any help appreciated!

try rubbing a bar of soap along the zip. honest. it's an old trick - but it should win you a couple of extra inches grace. ;)

well well, never heard of that trick before, but I will definitely try it out! Thank you :-)

also if you rub a candle along it then melt the wax with a hair dryer, that has worked for a friend of mine XX

Personally I would not wear a dress with a zip that will not do up properly. After all what with the dancing/ drinking/walking about it's pretty risky!
Also, shawls are pretty but they are annoying and you can't dance properly or let your hair down if you're very conscious of keeping a shawl in place.
As for losing the weight - it depends exactly why it won't do up. If you have big boobs for example or just a wider frame, then this is not going to change in 2 weeks! However if its because of a belly at the front then this could possibly be reduced significantly by following a strict detox diet (no wheat/alcohol/dairy - mainly veg, fruit and fish) however on the night it'd prob be still uncomfortable and may burst open!
You don't have to spend £100 on a dress. Topshop, miss selfridge Warehouse all do very nice prom style dresses for £50 - £70 and new look does a few for only £40 or so. Additionally there are a lot of sales on atm and if you really hunt I'm sure you can find a dress in the sale. It might not be 100% what you want but better than one than doesn't fit!
Good luck
