Do you fake it or is it the real thing?
Question:

Do you fake it or is it the real thing?
There have been loads of leather vs. pleather polls but what are your opinions on fake heres, if they're very good mirror copies and come in a similar quality material (leather or synthetic!)?
I was browsing the Gauchos on eBay and I think they look really good for the money - personally I would rather be able to buy 10-15 good bag copies for the price of one genuine bag and worry about it going out of season.
In saying this, I would love to go to Brown Thomas with the cash one day and stick it to those snooty SAs!

I'm not referring to leather/ "pleather" bags here, more designer labels in general. It has to be real all the way for me I'm afraid, yes it may be more fool me, but I couldn't bear knowing that something I've got is fake, even if everybody else didn't have a clue, deep down I would still know :o

I hadn't thought of it like that! I can understand wanting the lovely warm feeling of a genuine bag instead of the 'make-do' fake but I would think having an imitation bag made of leather was acceptable?

Answers:

I couldn't care less whether something is 'genuine' or not; if it looks good and I like it, then that's enough for me.

A while ago I got rid of all the endless cheap bags I had (and hardly used) and now I buy one real bag a year, it's normally something that I've been pining after for months in a versatile/classic colour/shape/design. I wouldn't know what to do with 10-15 bags. Plus there are always stories about fake designer goods funding terrorism and other internatioanl crime which is not a terribly nice thought.
