Question:
O/T I screwed up help needed
Had a second interview yesterday for a job that I really wanted, i was told it was more of an informal chat to see if I got on with the manager.
Just got feedback today and apparently i came across as not being hungry enough for the role?? Which is not the impression that I gave in the first interview. They have also miraculously found other people that they want to interview and will let me know.
Feeling really peed off now as I really wanted it, is there anything I can do or do I just have to chalk it down to experience and be cheesed off??
Ideas anyone?
Well I once didn't get a job for simelar reasons - thought I was too laid back and didn't seem as if I REALLY wanted it - actually it was because I wasn't used to interviews at the time and was really nervous, so I over compensated and ended up looking too relaxed!
Anyway, when I found out that that was the reason I didn't get it, I spoke to the recruitmant consultant and explained, and she was really good and spoke to the company in question, and I got another shot at the interview and got the job!
I'm sure this wouldn't work all the time, but if you really want it then maybe try that - it's not as if you didn't get it because they didn't 'like' you, or you are underqualified, so possibly try to get back in and act really really interested - otherwise, just chalk it up to experience.
Good luck anyway whatever you do.. :)
Thanks glitterball, I am just trying to come up with a fabulous email to send to the recruitment person, so she can forward on my thoughts etc, hopefully this will help.
I'm so cheesed off that I screwed up!!
Any other ideas greatly received
Always send a follow up email, this is essential good manners and shows you are keen.
I think I used to come across as too laid back when I started doing interviews and was very nervous. I'm less nervous now and make sure I am prepared with lots of good questions to ask (also makes you look keen).
It's hard to say where you've gone wrong without a blow by blow account of your interview.
But defo send up a follow up, directly to the manager you talked with is the best.
I agree, don't give up yet! Contact the Recruiment person and explain that you misunderstood the 2nd interview, you really wanted the job and misrepresented youself.
Good luck.
