Question:
British fashion is fun
I've just been doing some research on some Spanish forums where they review shops. One of the reviews was about Primark and they went on about what great value it is blah, blah and also within the review they mention how us Brits and Irish have bad taste. Well, I know we can be a bit slap dash with grooming and what not but hey after living in Spain for two years I find their conventional beiges, browns, suits and match matchy look down right boring. Sorry about the rant but I just wish our British individuality and openess to experimentation was celebrated instead of written off as bad taste.
I know that generally the Spanish are smarter as a nation overall and I used to admire this at first but it does get boring. Sorry about the rant.
Saying that in this month's spanish In Style magazine there is a six page feature about Anglomania which praises our designers and our attitude to fashion in general so perhaps those in the "know" appreciate where we are coming from.
What she said re French fashion as well. French style is another matter.

I feel the same about French fashion. When I was in London last week I really noticed the difference. British high street shops are by far the best.
Yep, French couture rocks but the high street sucks badly, it's been close to 4 years since I've come back to France but I still can't get used to the clothes here and still look to the British shops/trends, I'm used to it as well (lived most of my adult life in UK) but I don't think the french high street can compete and I absolutely loathe what french women wear :(
As for Spain, are Zara and Mango their best offerings? If so, it's nothing to climb about is it
This is what I find myself doing too, looking to the British high street and the bag for the latest in trends and fashion as I find the Spanish high street so uninspiring.
