Question:
Ebay sellers - arrghhhhhhh
I'm getting really sick of some Ebayer sellers today.
I bought an item a couple of days ago and then received an email from the sellers today saying that they had made a mistake with the postage and hadn't realised it would cost so much to post. They said the new postage would be nearly 5 times what they had originally put in the listing!!!!!
I emailed them back and said they couldn't do this as they had stated the postage in the auction and now the auction had ended. Now I've just received a really rude email saying they'll begrudgingly send the item out to me but that what I've done isn't fair and they hope I never make mistake!!
Is it just me or are they really out of order?? I haven't done anything wrong here have I?!
From my experience, the new postage system actually works out cheaper. What would have cost me £2.50with the old system, only cost £1.70 with the new, so they are probably exaggerating the price anyway.
I think you're totally in the right, a caring ebayer wouldn't treat you like this. Maybe I'm too nice? :p
In fairness to them, i guess with the new royal mail pricing system things can get a bit confused BUT if i am right in guessing that listings are up for about a week or two, this is still plenty of time to get the item weighed at the post office and correct the postage cost on the item for sale.
so in fairness to you, the seller should really honour the price she had put on the listing and calculate things properly in future!!
No, you haven't done anything wrong, it was their mistake. If they'd quoted the supposedly correct postage, then you may not have bid. I suspect that the item didn't sell for what they were hoping, because that's a pretty big misestimation (if that's even a word) that they made.
No, I don't think you have done anything wrong. I've underpriced my postage fee before, it was my fault, my problem and my responsibility to pay it! I've never got it that wrong though! 5 times?!
Don't feel bad :)
