Question:
Help needed lost any sense of style!!!
Hi I am new here but you seem to be just the girls I need.
I have 2 pre school children and have totally lost touch with what is in and what is not.
I want to update my look a bit but it needs to be quite casual as you can imagine.
I was thinking of new jeans but dont know if they should be tight/baggy, dark/light!
Also fancy some combats but what colour and also what to wear shoe/boot wise.
Thank you if you have read this far
Any hints tips or suggestions would be welcome
Thanks again
Lemondrop
Hi lemondrop! I'm new too but hopefully I can still help :)
First of all jeans-wise, it depends on your shape, because skinny-leg, tight jeans are very in at the moment but they're not the most flattering - you can get away with it if you're pretty slim but otherwise maybe go for less tight jeans in a straight leg or the 'boyfriend' style which is quite loose and baggy. I haven't bought a pair of jeans in a while but I think Gap is probably a good place to look if you want a good pair & not too expensive. As for dark/ light, personally I'd go for dark colours as I find them more flattering.
Not sure about combats - haven't seen many in the shops lately but you can get some nice wide-leg trousers atm either casual or smart styles which are lovey and comfy and flattering - I highly reccomend them! They're best worn with heels, apparently, but tbh I'm quite short & I wear them with flip flops anyway!
Shoe-wise, for sheer comfyness I reccomend ballerina flats and I have seen some nice flat riding-style boots around (knee highs) - both go well with the straight leg jeans. Ankle boots are good too as you can wear them with skirts/trousers or just about anything!
Hope that's helpful. Can't believe how much I can go on when it comes to fashion!
hi lemondrop
can you give us an idea of your size, shape, height & colouring?
Thanks Liquid-diamonds see I told you I had no idea with the combats thing! just thought they would be comfy, I saw some with embrodery on and thought they looked ok!!!!.
I am 5 ft 9 about a size 12 dark hair and eyes and the wrong side of30!!!! If I dare say that:eek: dont feel it though and dont want to end up in comfy slacks and patterened jumpers yet (or is that a good look?)
OOOh you are tall and quite slim so you can get away with most things actually :) (lucky cow :p )
If you've got lean legs then definatley give dark skinny jeans a try :great: they will be great in the winter with some comfy flat pixie boots...for the jeans I guess you should look in places where they do various lengths e.g. Topshop, Gap, New Look (if your budget is as low as mine :o ) etc etc. For pixie boots in leather then have a look in Topshop, Barratts, Office...Or if you are looking for some cheap and cheerful ones then go to Peacocks, Primark (got loads at the mo for £12 but are going quick!), PriceLess Shoes (although I've never been there!), Dorothy Perkins etc. You can also get some fab long length jumpers and tee's (Primark has loads in at the mo) for layering which will look great with the jeans and boots.
I would also suggest getting some boot cut jeans aswell as they are flattering on everyone and are easy and versatile for everyday wear. These are available everywhere, but with jeans you gotta just try on endless pairs to find ones with a good fit :)
For when you need to look a bit dressy, then I would get some great wrap dresses as they are soooo easy to wear...there are loads around at the mo...you can wear these over your jeans for a more dressed down look or by itself with boots to go out to dinner etc.
I'm with liquid_diamonds with the whole ballet flats thing...they will be perfect for you! They look great and are really comfy. I would go for some great colours like teal, red, grey, green, leopard print (as they can make a boring, casual outfit look interesting)...aswell as a versatile black, brown or navy pair(depending on which colours you wear most) :D You can also get these in most places but for good value you should go to Primark or New Look ;)
The last thing I would like to say is ACESSORISE!! :D Get loads of belts to go with your length jumpers and other tops this a/w (New Look have some great belts :) ), some nice slouchy bags in whatever colours you fancy, some nice scarves to liven up a plain top, and definately some lovely jewellery to make your outfits spectacular (have a look in H&M or Miss Selfridge for jewellery :) ) :great:
Sugar Honey Ice Tea...I've written an essay  sorry its so long lemondrop, but I hope it helps :)
