Question:
O/T (sorry) proposal idea needed........
I need to help out a male friend of mine. He is taking his g/f to Italy next week and intends proposing! (she doesn't know). Anyway, he asked me how to do it and I mentioned that I would post this and seek ideas. They are going to Milan, Florence and Rome.
Anything at all would be appreciated. Location? What do do and where to go? etc etc etc
Thanks in advance

IMO, it's not where he says it but what he says. As Chandler says in Friends:
"I thought it mattered what I said or where I said it, but the only thing that matters is that you make me happier than I thought I could ever be, and if you let me, I'll spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way."
Can you tell I've watched that scene about a million and twenty-seven times? :o It makes me blub like a baby every time!

I completely agree :)
Proposing is such a personal thing. He can plan all he wants but then something will happen and he may not be able to do it at that time and place.
Tell him to relax, carry the ring round with him and then he'll know when the time is right.
mr elliecat proposed to me early in the morning from under the duvet - he was soooo nervous about it he couldn't look at me and had to hide his face and kept giggling really high-pitched girlie squeals - doesn't sound very romantic but it worked;) .
I bitched and moaned about it not being very postcard-ish so he had to do it again properly over candles and dinner and champagne - strangely it wasn't anywhere near as romantic as it felt too contrived.
So, I think its best to just be prepared and some time when she least expects it and he feels the timing is right to pop the question.
