Question:
O/T Interview tomorrow morning need advice...
Apologies, this is v o/t, but I have a final-stage interview tomorrow morning. It's communications, just me and 40-something chap left as remaining candidates, to my horror. Am mid-twenties.
Had anyone been in similar situation, how did you sell yourself? Baring in mind this chap prob has 20 years experience, but then I'm undoubtedly cheaper.
:uzzle:
Yes! I've been in absolutely the same situation!
(and to make it worse I had to sit through an industry dinner with the guy six months later- and it was me that got the job :o )
What's as important as experience is your personality and your fit within the team. Everyone wants to employ someone they like.
I got the job over the more experienced guy because (in my bosses words) I was more enthusiastic and passionate about my work and she knew that we'd get along really well. Plus sometimes I think that employers wonder why the more experienced person wants a job that a younger, less experienced person can do. Are they not up to the job or will they be looking for something better as soon as it comes along?
Just be yourselves, be really enthusiastic and if it's meant to be and it's the right job for you it will be yours.
Good luck, I'll have my :fingers: for you :)
i think shiny said it all
just wanted to say good luck :)
Good luck tomorrow!
Thanks girls!
Shiny, my potential team leader seemed to really like me and was really enthusiastic about a young, english person. We got on quite well, so hoping she'll have bigged me up. Good point about the older person - was wondering why someone 20 yrs older than me would be going for same position too...
Just though that I'm more maleable too and won't have got stuck in any style ruts that may not be the case for him.
ETA style as in writing, I don't think they'll be that bothered what I've got on!
