Question:

totally O/T for all londoners
hello this is a bit random but i wanted to know what the parking situation is like on sundays in central? i dont drive so i dont have a clue but my friends are coming down and want to know whether its free and if not how expensive it is.
and does anyone know of any good places to park around covent garden area??

Answers:

You can park on single yellow lines and in meter/pay and display bays for free on Sundays. I usually park around Great Portland Street, Marylebone and Knightsbridge without too much difficulty, but get there before, say, 2pm as it can get busy with shoppers. You will find it nigh-on impossible to get a space around Covent Garden though - spaces get snapped up immediately as it's mostly resident parking round there. And NB: if you do park in the West End, do be sure it's a pay and display/meter bay and NOT a resident bay as resident bays have restrictions on them 7 days a week and you'll probably get clamped or something.
ETA: there are a couple of NCP car parks in Covent Garden where you might get a space, but they're pricey. Better to find a yellow line round the back of Oxford Street and then walk there. Or just get the bus/tube!
