Question:
By Royal Appointment - help please
Ladies of the Bag I need help please...
firstly hello  I've been lurking for a few weeks and then have had to wait since Thursday to get my account up and running :faint:
anyway the purpose of the thread...
my darling Father in Law got an MBE this summer :yay: and in October has to go and see her Maj and be presented with it and we get to go with him. Now for the men it's easy cos they can just hire suits but I have to wear 'day dress' (ie not evening dress) and a hat and it has to be something that gets the approval of my MiL (think Hyacinth Bucket and you're on the right lines) and not shame me at the Palace.
I'm 5'6" and a size 12 and a pear shape so tend to wear a-line skirts. I think I want a dress (but separates would be ok) that's knee length and nipped in at the waist with a shortish jacket over the top and the dreaded hat. I want it to be classic but with a twist - not something that makes me look 50 IYSWIM
I'd normally look in the safe places of Monsoon etc but as I've recently lost weight I'm discovering my fashion side again so want to try new places...
suggestions please :)
I can't post any pictures I'm afriad but why not have a look in Zara, last time i was in there they had some really lovely dresses that would fit in this category and flatter a pear shaped 12 perfectly, for about £60-70. Some gorgeous prints too.
thanks I'll have to go into Birmingham and have a look round the shops, I've always been a bit scared of the likes of Zara but I'll have a look
How about trying somewhere like Coast?
Coast is an excellent rec. Don't try Hobbs:cool:
