Question:
Benefits of a cleansing balm?? (eg.eve lom)
i hear alot of people use eve lom cleanser or the cleanse and polish one but are they actually any good? wat kind of skin are they meant for and what are the benefits of using then rather than a normal wash off cleanser??
thanks x
Hi,
I use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and I find it much more effective than the Simple foaming face wash I was using previously. The Cleanse & Polish has a creamy consistency which doesnt dry out my skin. My skin looks clearer and feels very smooth but the reason I love it most of all is because it makes my skin look radiant. Not sure about the Eve Lom but the Cleanse & Polish is suitable for all skintypes.

I definitely prefer a cleansing balm to a wash off cleanser. The balms leave your skin much softer & don't dry your skin out.
I have just started using Champneys Super Rich Floral Facial Balm (from Sainsburys) & that is gorgeous. It has a lovely soft texture & smells divine (a mix of essential oils that is similar to the general smell in a health farm!) - it spreads very easily to a nice thin layer which is easy to remove.
I've previously used Eve Lom (not keen on the smell & too expensive) which was OK, but I preferred the Tesco Skin Wisdom Balm to that & I also used to use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish but I prefer the balms to that, as they leave my dry skin feeling moist.
With a balm you are massaging the skin, gentle exfoliating and your skin feels really, really, really clean afterwards.
I only know a little about balms but I am starting to look into this kind of cleansing more.
With balms, milks or cleansers that are removed instead of simply rinsed off you are not stripping the skin as much as you would with a foaming cleanser. Foaming cleansers attack the natural sebum that your skin produces leaving you feeling dry and tight and requiring lots of moisture to replenish it. Longterm use of harsh products can often cause damage of sorts and cause all kinds of skin problems
These gentler cleansers aim to whipe off surface dirt and debris without stripping away the skins natural moisturisers
