Question:
make up counters
next saturday im going to a fancy dress party as debbie harry (gota love blondie!!) and was thinking of asking one of the make up counters to make me up 1980's styley!
i know MAC counters to make-overs for a fee (heard its around £25) but what about any other counters? do they charge or just expect u to buy the products they use...also is it really cheeky for me to ask them to do it purely for a fancy dress party...?

A lot of counters will put stuff on you for free if you just walk up to them. The SA will be hoping to make a sale but you usually aren't any obligation. It probably is a bit cheeky to ask them to make you look a certain way especially if you really aren't interested in their products. Its one thing to try something and not like it then to have a motive.
Counters are also a bit random it depends on the SA you get and how good they actually are at putting on make-up and using techniques and have a repetoire of looks they know how to do.
You might be better off searching the net for how-to's and use what you've already got to acheive your goal. Go for big eyes and chizzled cheeks i.e. noticeable blush lines not blended and no bronzer, one thing that was always very popular was frosted lips or very berry/maroon colours on lips.
thanks for the reply yeh thats what i was thinking...never really been that good with blusher but i can always have a play...big smoky eyes too sounds fine, do u no a resonably priced eyeliner that has a smudging rubber on the end? ive seen ones on bobby brown but wonder if i could get a cheaper one...

Space NK have eyeliners with smudgers on the end for £3 in the sale....
