Are all these beauty products making our skin worse?
Question:

Are all these beauty products making our skin worse?
After reading a few threads on how people's skin seems to be reacting badly to certain products or they're not working, It just makes me wonder whether its all worth it, Are these products just making our skin worse? would we be better off with a good old flannel and some water, I'm using Liz Earle at the mo and my skin has been all over the shop, looking good one min and really bad the next. I'm quite tempted to bring my regime down to a minimum and just washing with a bit of water, I dont wear much foundation so its not like I'd have a lot to take off. Its just interesting, maybe all these products we use arent that great for us because they're causing our skin to imbalance and breakout. I've used so many products and still my skin isnt never quite how I want it.
anyway sorry to go on, I'd be interesting in what anyone else thinks :)

Only if we use the wrong products, and unfortunetly as everyone is different, we can only learn whats right for our skin by trial and error :(

yeh you're right :) , its completely trial and error. One minute my skin is fine using a product ans then all hell breaks loose. I was talking to my bf the other day saying how when I was 15 my skin was fine and people would ask how come I didnt have any spots and now in my 20s it seems like its all caught up with me, probably the pill in my case that causes my break outs. My 'regime' back then was pretty non exist, maybe I've over loaded my skin. I'm quite interested in taking it back to basics

That's a very good question, and one that I've also been pondering over. Given the thread I posted, I think I really need to pare my regime down. Just the basics nothing else.
Think we do overload our skin with products that aren't entirely necessary/right for our skin.
And, as O'hara rightly said, so much of finding what works for us is through trial and error, and unfortunately we're bound to get it wrong some times.

Hi Miss Bean thanks for the reply :) Yeh it just got me wondering, as my bf has perfect, clean soft skin and all he does is splash his face with water. And theres me using all the products under the sun, meticulously cleaning it and putting products on it, and its me with the flipping spots!! grrr men.
Yeh trial and error is the only way I guess, its just annoying that in the process I feel like I might mess up my skin.
My routine is pretty basic, In the morning I just wash my face in the shower with water, a rose moisturiser and then in the evening use LE and I still get spots, hmmm  It seems to me like products only seem to work for a limited time and then things go a bit wrong hehe
