Question:
Face steaming
Does anyone still do this?
I remember when I was younger my Mum would do this all the time, but I don't seem to see much in Beauty mags/books about this anymore. I had a Babyliss facial steamer for Xmas a few years ago and have hardly ever used it, despite looking forward to getting it.
Does anyone steam their face and find they get good results of clearer skin because of it? I've never managed to keep up doing it regularly to see if it actually helps and was thinking about giving it a go.
It might sound silly but when I use it I get a bit scared its going to start spraying bursts of boiling water and steam in my face and burn me, listening to it bubble away with my face on the rest. I should really start using it cos its quite a good one, with a seperate attachment and setting which sprays a cool water vapour to tone and refresh the skin afterwards.
It's the worst thing you can do to your skin :cmeek:. Most skincare experts agree these days that it can cause broken capillaries, especially if you follow with cold water.
If you feel the need to *open* your pores to cleanse them, press a warm, damp flannel over the area instead.
The only thing I'd use the steamer for is as a humidifier if your rooms dry out do to central heating.

I have one of those face steamers too but I never use it, but at the start of the year I was using the steam room a lot at the gym and my face was looking really fresh, my skin felt very soft and my spots wasn’t as bad as they were before so I really think using the steam room was helping. I stopped using the steam room for some months and my skin became crap again so now I am starting to use the steam room again and I think in the next couple of months I will see an improvement in my skin again.
