Question:
Tips for beauty products when you fly in these days of security restrictions
Rules differ between airports but generally
* you cannot carry more than 1 litre of liquid in total, in containers of less than 100ml each.
* you will be asked to place your liquids in a clear bag when passing through the security checkpoint. Sometimes they provide bags at the airport, sometimes they make you buy them. It may be advisable to pop a few in your bag (freezer bags or ziplock freezer bags). What you can also do is buy a clear makeup or toiletry bag (more common now but M & S always has nice ones)
* to avoid carrying cleansers, toners etc you can decant them into small bottles (Muji usually has nice ones, and Boots always has a selection) or buy a packet of wetwipes.
* keep samples and sachets that come with magazines. They are small and you can throw away the sachet when you are finished.
* buy travel sized kits of your favourite products or keep the small sizes when you get GWP's
*small bottles of perfume are okay but AVOID Viktor and Rolf's flowerbomb as it is shaped like a grenade and will probably end up with you being arrested
* You are free to buy what you want at duty free once you pass passport control but be aware that if you fly through another airport before you get home they may confiscate them.
* water may be confiscated at any checkpoints. This applies to both opened and unopened bottles and to cola etc as well
* if you want to do duty free beauty shopping remember that all the security takes longer so allow plenty of time.
Anyone have any more?

In some airports, they will seal your duty-free shopping in a clear bag and you are not supposed to open it until you reach your final location. Also remember, you need to take your shoes off to pass the X-rays!
Don't forget to get a bottle of water from the news agent to hydrate your body in the air!
Finally, these rules changes every now and then so it's best to check the latest guidelines from BAA.

My sis had a tiny spray of hairspray confiscated last week at security, not sure if that 'rule' is always clear about no sprays whatever size! (Obviously frightened you'll bouffant the pilot to death  )
Also she was told off for carrying 'too many' items even though they were all mini sized and certainly didn't come anywhere near 1 litre in total (she was only going for a wedding for the day!!) They did let her through with them after an argument but you might want to bear this in mind..

If the flight is long you can just carry wipes for make-up and wet wipes. And the rest just chuck into your luggage in check-in.
As all these restrictions are only for the handluggage you take on the plane. So i dont understand why you need so much on board??
Thanks for this. I will be flying for the first time ever in December so this has come in very handy for me.
