Red lippie
Question:

Red lippie
Hey girlies, I wonder if you could help me out.
I've recently decided that I can't live without a gorgeous red lipstick and would like your opinions.
I have olive skin (MAC NC35 I think), dark golden brown hair and dark brown eyes.
I'd love a red lipstick that is quite vivid but not a dark, vampy red but more bright.
Help!

Answers:

I;m about the same colouring as you and I use NARS velvet matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl. It's more expensive than a MAC pencil but the colour and texture are perfect and it lasts about a year so it's worth it! :D

I like No 7 in Cherry; I'd describe that as a vivid, clear, true red when on. I've got golden/olive skin and brown eyes and it suits me well.

I'm an NC45 with black hair and dark brown eyes, and I use Dubonnet by MAC with a Rimmel lipliner in Red Diva (it's an Exaggerate one) underneath.
It's quite bright on me but I am darker than you, and my lips are quite pigmented so it might be darker than what you want, MAC describes it as a "Deepened claret (Amplified Creme)."
Lots of people have recommended Russian Red as THE red lipstick too, which is described as "intense bluish-red (Matte)."
It's difficult to find the right shade to suit, it took me ages in the MAC Pro shop with an SA's advice, but it's worth it, I love red lipstick, nothing makes you feel as glam!

Thank you for your replies.
I'll definately check those out. Both the NARS and Boots look just right from what I can see.
Nazneen, I've seen that MAC colour but it's just a bit too deep for me, I have a feeling it would make me look a bit too scary! But going to the MAC Pro shop is not a bad idea...I may have to do that as well!
